I can understand why she wants to live this way. I myself live in a 2-bedroom apartment in Kansas (rent is considerably cheaper here), but I certainly don't actually use all of that room. I'm really thinking about getting a studio apartment somewhere.

I could live in an apartment the size she's living in if I had a good reason, like I wanted to live closer to family or the job of my dreams or something like that.

Reminds me of the apartment I had in Paris. 700 Euros/mo (over $1,000) for 11 sq meters (about 110 sq feet). But it was in the center of Paris! Well worth it. No real kitchen, but I had an induction cooktop and a microwave -- plenty!

How Cool! I could totally see myself doing that as a single person, and actually I wish I DID do that when I was single and spending most of my time running around Boston rather than being at home. That is an amazing rent for where the apt is located. Personally, if that were my space I would work on downsizing more of my clothes and expand my cooking facilities, but to each her own. I give her lots of credit for being so savvy and practical.

Wow, that's interesting! We just downsized from 1300 sq ft to 525 but our rent went from $1375 to $795. Much better for our budget but it is small, especially since we have large furniture. Not sure I could go that small, but good for her!

My first reaction was, 90 square feet, that's rather small. To get an idea how tiny, I measured my bathrooms: 5x7 and 6x9 for a total of 89 square feet. That's really tiny.

I don't know. It's about the size of my daughter's bedroom in our old house--9x10 which didn't seem too small at all to me. But then again, I like small homes (my current one is WAY TOO BIG).

I'd be kinda down with that, but there's no kitchen (unless you call a microwave and a mini-fridge a kitchen). Even the ultra tiny houses (which make me go squeeee! Because dang they are awesome) have a kitchen of some sort.

But to each their own--it's all about what your prioritize as important. Good for her for doing her thing.
